I found him while researching my genealogy on ancestry.com and got a kick out of seeing the tavern in our family name. I hope to visit soon. Thanks for the pet-friendly tip as well. We have two dogs and we also run a humane society called Save A Dog in Sudbury, MA so we will pass the word along to our dog loving adopters. I see that you mentioned James and Alison as his parents. I have documentation of a George Gray's baptism record from an Old Parish Record from the High Church in Glasgow. In it, it gives a date of 14 April 1620 as the birth/baptism date for a George Gray. His parents are Robert and Margaret. I have received this information from another Ancestry.com member who was contacted by an individual who had done extensive research and concluded that this was "the George Gray" who fought in the Battle of Dunbar and who settled in Hancock, Maine. I have seen in records that Alison and James were married in 1629 . George, according to your article was born in 1625. (I have him as 1620 birth), that would mean that his parents were not married at the time of his birth. However, Robert and Margaret were married in 1610. I am only interested in finding out who are the correct parents of George Gray and documentation that proves it. I have all the information about George once he arrived on the Unity but need the correct information about who his parents were. Do you have contacts that you could put in touch with that would have proof of Alison and James being his parents? Thank you so much.
Gail Grayhydrangeahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13353871390431255065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2454093821858067979.post-13433816776675402902014-01-30T04:10:39.905-08:002014-01-30T04:10:39.905-08:00Hi Ted! You must be a cousin of some sort. to answer your question, you can, of course, start researching on Ancestry.com...and your tree will pretty much bloom into little green leaves taking you from one generation to the next. The Gray Reunion Committee can tell you how you can obtain their book "Descendents of Joshua Gray". And, you can contact them on their FaceBook Group page, "Gray Family of Hancock County". I hope that's helpful. Thanks for reading my post and for being "green".
GailGail J VanWarthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06862374613394965051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2454093821858067979.post-76026076308344386922012-09-29T12:11:43.963-07:002012-09-29T12:11:43.963-07:00As a descendant of George (my grandfather moved fr...As a descendant of George (my grandfather moved from Isle au Haut to Pasadena, California in the 1920's) I have been curious about various sources that attribute a birth date, parents and/or grandparents to George. Any chance someone can point me at the documentation? Just curious how the links were established, especially as it has been 10 years since I did any appreciable research on George. . .
